MAC Mocha!

I can safely say that I am now addicted to lipsticks. I think my collection has grown just a tad! Last month I got a new MAC lipstick (oops) in 'Mocha'. I was looking for a brown undertoned nude colour and this one looked perfect. On my lips it looks more peachy, which I like, it's something I wear now when I go heavy on the eyes. I know that I will get more use out of this when it's summer because of the brighter tone of the lipstick.

It's a satin finish, but it feels like a matte finish to me. I like wearing this by dabbing it on my lips and blending with my finger. I would definitely wear a lip balm underneath it to give a little moisture to the lips.

What's your favourite MAC lipstick?

Plum & Wine ... Lips!

It's this time of year that makes everyone want to break out those wines and plums, lipsticks that is. And why not! I for one love them, they suit my skin tone far more than pink tones people wear during summer. I have collected a few (ok, a lot) reds, plums and wine colours over the years and I have to admit I've never really been brave enough to wear them in the day, but I have a feeling this year is going to be different.

I thought I would share with you the lip products that I know I will be wearing whether it's day or night this Autumn.

L-R: No 7 Grace | MAC Rebel | MAC Viva Glam I | Revlon Black Cherry

Firstly I'm going to start off with my No.7 gem, 'Grace' (Stay Perfect range), I would describe it as a brownish burgundy. I love the formulation of this lipstick, creamy but not shiny (suppose that would be a satin finish?). This is the only formulation I like out of all the No.7 lipsticks, the others are too shiny. I know I'm going to be wearing this particular lipstick a lot in the coming months.

Next are my two MAC lipsticks; 'Rebel', a blogger favourite. I understand the 'hype' around this lipstick, it's a lovely dark black-current colour. You can wear it sheerly by just putting a little bit on and rubbing it in with your fingers or a full on dark lip (like the picture). Totally vampy!

My other MAC lippy is the one I wore in my last post; 'Viva Glam I' (matte). It's a gorgeous burnt red colour. I love the colour payoff of this lipstick and the way it looks on the lips, definitely going to repurchase this when I run out. As always the smell of MAC lipsticks is Vanilla…I lurvvve it!! I could just sniff it all day! That's not weird right?

My final Lipstick is going to be Revlon 'Black Cherry'. This is a similar depth to 'Rebel' but red version. This formulation is got a bit of shine to it, but nothing too extreme. This is another one that I am going to get a lot of use out of. I initially bought it for my mum, but she doesn't wear it…so obviously I am! =)

I know all of them are non glossy finishes, but that is what I prefer personally. But I do have some sheerer deep autumnal tones that you could wear if you're scared (as I once was) of wearing a full on dark/deep lip.

L-R: Models Own Pomegrante | Revlon Berry Smoothie | Revlon Bourdeaux

My Models Own Balm in 'Pomegrante' is lovely if you just want to dabble in a darker colour for the day time, it's quite sheer and just gives a hint of colour, a bit like your lip was just bitten…sexy! ;-) You can also build up the colour if you want a glossy bitten look. And the smell of this is just….yumtastic!

Something that is berry toned (obvious in the name) is Revlon's lip butter in 'Berry Smoothie'. The picture shows it to be more pinky but I think on most other lips it will come out more berry toned, as the swatch looks.

Lastly is a lipgloss; Revlon Colourburst lipgloss in 'Bordeaux'. The pigmentation of this gloss is just…wow! It's a similar tone to the 'Black Cherry' but you can apply this so there is a less colour and obviously your lips will be luscious and glossy.

So there are the lippies that I am going to be making use of with the seasonal change! What are you going to be pulling out this Autumn? Have you tired any of those mentioned? What do you think?

Four Fav MAC shadows!

Hello my lovelies!! How are you all??? I’m glad to say that I’m back to blogging, my life has been a little hectic and honestly I feel like I was lacking inspiration for blog posts, but I’m happy to say that I’m back at it and hopefully I can stick to a rhythm of posting regularly.

So for this post I would like to share with you my favourite four MAC shadows. They are the shadows that I reach for when all I want it a quick wash of colour over the eyes, as well as when I want to spend a bit more on my eye look.

So, starting from the top left hand corner going clockwise is Romp (frost finish). This is a rustic gold colour, but I think it's a bit smoother and more pigmented than other frost finish eyeshadows I have. It’s so easy to wear, put this all over your lid with lots of mascara and you’re ready to go.

Next is All That Glitters, this is a blogger favourite and I have to agree with them. I wouldn’t necessarily put it all over my lid but definitely in the inner corner and the first half of the eye, then I would put a purple or maroon on the outer corner. The shimmer is amazing. If you’re a paler person that you can definitely wear this all over your lid. I would describe the colour as a silver pale pink (veluxe pearl finish).

My next favourite is Paradisco (frost finish). I would describe this as a pink with gold flecks. If your eyes need waking up use this all over the lid or in the first half with something deeper in the outer corner and you’re ready to go. You may need a base with this colour if you want better pay off, like a primer potion or pencil.

Last but not least is my very first MAC shadow Tempting (lustre finish). I used to have problems with this shadow when I first bought it, but now I lurrvee it. It is a lustre, which means its got chunks of glitter in it, but if you just keep building the colour the pay off is lovely. I feel as though it’s a duo-chrome shadow, when looking at it, it looks like an antique gold, but actually in different lights is comes out as a dark brown which is perfect if you just want to wear one shadow and be out of the door.

Top-Bottom: All that glitters, Paradisco, Romp, Tempting

Well, there you have it, when looking at them in the pan it looks like I’ve only really picked two colours but they all give off different finishes.

What are your favourite MAC Shadows? Do you have any of these? Would you like to see me using them in a post? Glad to be back!!

<3 =) x

May Favourites!

How is it the end of May ALREADY?! This year is going by mighty fast! Anyone else feel like that?

I thought I would share what I loved about the month of May seeing as it’s coming to an end.

Beauty

Skin care:

Let’s start with the only skin care product in this favourites. I’ve really been enjoying this Clinique 7 day scrub cream (Sample; 30ml). Now, the title implies you can use it everyday but personally I don’t think it’s particularly kind to scrub your skin everyday like that. So, I’ve been using it, probably, 3 times a week and I my skin feel’s so refreshed after using this. I got it as a sample in a magazine a couple of months ago (I want to say Glamour, but I’m not sure). It doesn’t make my skin feel dry like some other exfoliators do, so a thumbs up for me!

Make up time:

My one and only Nars Blush in Amour (*post here*). I have been reaching for this quite a bit for a subtle flushed look. Next is my trusty MAC Studio Finish concealer in NC42. At the bottom there is a my rediscovered love; Maxfactors False lash effect mascara.

This Bare Minerals 'Mineral Veil' (orignial) has been a real saviour in the recent heat wave we have been enjoying in the UK; a light dusting of this has really helped set my make up in place. (I think it’s better than MAC Mineralise Skin Finish =O, there I said it, lol.)

Final little pieces are my Sleek products, I didn’t mean to put a bunch of Sleek products in but I have been consistently using these products. And if they are good, they are good!

Going clockwise is the Sleek contour Kit in Medium. No explanation needed I think. Sleek Blush in Life’s a Peach, it gives a really ‘brightening’, ‘awake’ look to my face. Finally, the Au Naturel palette (*used here*) for quick and easy everyday looks.

Leisure

Books:

I am one of those who got sucked into reading the Hunger Games and I have to admit that I don’t regret it one bit. They are a fabulous read. I found the second book hard to get into, but the second half makes up for the slow beginning. I still haven't watched the film though, don't think I want to, it will probably be a disappointment. Anyone able to compare?

TV/Movie:

Made in Chelsea is my ULTIMATE guilty pleasure. I know that it’s trash TV and completely falsified but I can’t help but watch it! I don’t watch any other reality TV because I can’t stand them, but this just goes to show you how addicted to crap you can get lol! My favourite people in the show are Millie Mackintosh and Francais Boulle. Do you guys watch it? It's alright to admit it...this is a safe place! Who's your favourite person?

Now this I am NOT embarrassed about! I absolutely love this programme! And sadly the 3rd season of Vampire Diaries ended this month, much to my sadness. I remember when the first season came out and I thought it was just a rip off of Twilight, but it is SO much better. And there are far better looking people in this show! (Ahh Damon (left)...*Drolls*)

And finally Avengers! Ahh this was an amazing film! That’s all I can say about it! A definite must watch. Even my friend, who doesn’t like these types of films loved it! Full of action and funny one liners!

Music:

Now these two men have the most amazing voices and are perfect summer ‘back ground’ tunes! I don’t think there has been a day since getting both their albums that I don’t play them. If I HAD to choose my favourite song from their ablums (which is hard!) it would be; for Ben Howard (left) – Promise. And from Michael Kiwanuka (right) – Rest. They both have soothing voices and if you like chilled type of music then I would definitely recommend checking them out!

Well, that was my long May Favourites! Hope you enjoyed that. Are you enjoying any of the things mentioned above? Would love to know! =) x

MAC Studio Fix Fluid Foundation!

My foundation in NC42 (excuse my large looking hand)

As the title suggests I am going to talk about my very first proper foundation, the MAC Studio Fix Fluid Foundation. Now I think I should start by saying that this was my first foundation which was properly colour matched to me. I have used MACs powders before but after a horrific acne break out I had years ago I have been left by awful acne scaring.

Whenever I used to look at foundations in the chemists I used to struggle to find my best match (being Indian and all). I used to find the foundations were too pink toned and would make me look ashy. MAC was my obvious choice for a better colour selection.

Now on to the actual foundation (rather long back story); it is full coverage, which I know isn’t to everyone’s taste but for me it is definitely what I need. The smell is much to be desired, let’s be honest, but I can live with it.

When I first bought it I had a basic foundation brush, which done the job fine, but it felt thick on my skin, not nice. But I have learnt a trick, which I want to share…BUFF IT IN! It doesn’t feel anywhere near as thick when applied with a dense synthetic brush. By buffing this foundation in it feels sheer but the coverage is still full, brilliant if you have scarring like me. It sets rather fast, so I would suggest putting it on the back of your hand and dipping the brush in. I know I’m not a make up artist (not by any means) but I thought I would share this in case anyone out there is having problems with this foundation after purchasing it.

I hope that was remotely interesting! Thanks for reading!! =) x
