Buttery Goodness!

Whyyyy do I go crazy when there are offers??! I mean I’m not the only one right?? Right??

There’s a 3 for 2 offer going on in Boots across all makeup, I’ve been aware of it for while but I was waiting for these beauties to be released! If I’m honest I wanted all of them, but obviously I can’t justify that. Anyway, 6 is more than enough, even the cashier was looking at me like “really?”

Now I know there have been abijillion (exaggerated of course) posts about these Revlon lip butters! But my goodness, they just look so beautiful! At £7.99, it’s not my favourite price point, especially knowing that they are cheaper in North America! But I suppose I still bought them!

Anywho…on to the product itself! I really like them; there is a brilliant colour selection, they are super moisturising and they last for a fairly long time (4 hours without eating anything). I think it’s a really nice product for spring/summer because it’s an easy application of a sheer wash of colour for the lips, especially when you don't want to wear a lot of makeup because of the heat.

I know I’m going to get good use out of them! I think they are quite similar to the 17 moisture shine lipsticks; although the 17 moisture shine lipsticks don’t have as many colours to choose from.

I definitely think that you shouldn’t do what I did and buy a bunch! I know I will get a lot of use out them all but for someone new to make up or just experimenting I would suggesting getting a colour that suits them best.

Have any of you got them? Which colour is your favourite? =) x

Natural Emphasis (FOTD)!

Well…here is another FOTD! Again it’s another neutral look. There is more shimmer in this look, although the camera hasn’t really picked it up.

Sorry looking so miserable…what was I thinking??! Oh yh...get at least one 'non blurry' picture!! Lol!

Products used(Clockwise):

MAC Studio Finish concealer (NC42)
MAC Paint in ‘Bamboom’
Sleek ‘Au Naturel’ Palette
MAC eyeshadow in ‘Paradisco’
Jemma Kidd Make up school ‘light as air’ foundation in ‘Medium Beige’
L’oreal Extra Volume Mascara in Black
Sleek Contour Kit in ‘Medium’
Bobbi Brown Corrector in ‘Dark Peach’
NARS blush in ‘Amour’

So this is one of my many palettes! Yes, I can't help buying them! I love this deep purple for the crease, its so subtle but a nice hint of colour when used alone.

Because this is a frost finish eyeshadow, the pay off isn't that great, that's why I used the base (below). The gold in this shadow is much more prominent than the pink, I love it as a wash over the lid.

These paints are the best primers ever, much better than paint pots, but when you open them up the product just spews out...and there is no way of stopping it! Therefore there is a lot of waste for such a nice product. This colour is a pink with fine gold shimmer. I love it!

Should I show what brushes I use next time I do a post like this? I would love to know! =) x

Mumma D’s Yankee

Just a quick post to show you what I got for my Mum! To be honest I wasn’t going to get my mum anything, not because I didn’t want to but because she doesn’t ever really want anything. I was just going to cook dinner for her and let her put her feet up (which I did do, by the way).

I was out on Saturday and Yankee Candles had 20% off in a local store. How could I miss up this offer I ask you??

I came across the Rose candle; I instantly thought of my mum, why not ehy? It was something that I knew she would use and I knew she would love the smell. When I gave it to her she did love it and lite it straight away...task accomplished!

I’ve only ever own Vanilla Cupcake, which I adore, but it is nearly gone so I repurchased it! It obviously smells of Vanilla, sweet and delicious!

I thought I would try this Midsummer’s Night. This is a bit more a summer fragrance! Can’t wait to burn it!

What Yankee Candles do you own?? What’s your favourite scent? =) x

Cleansing for a Brighter Face!

Oh Dear…this is my second product review of the Brand No.7! Sorry, but I thought I would just share this new cleanser that I bought.

Let me start by saying that I have problem skin; I am prone to acne, I have very large pores around my nose/cheeks making my skin oily and I have scarring.

This is the ‘No.7 Beautiful Skin Foaming Cleanser for Normal/Oily skin.’It retails at £9 for 150ml.

So what made me try this cleanser? Well, I have been using the Hot Cloth Cleanser by Liz Earle for the last 6 months or so, and it really does the job. But recently my skin has been getting a bit spotty and I’ve been getting patches of dryness on my face, not good! So I thought a little change would be good.

This cleanser claims to remove make up and tighten pores all in one step. The boots website says; “As well as No7’s unique multivitamin and mineral blend to hydrate and energise, the foaming cleanser is also enriched with zinc – proven to help regulate the skin’s oil production – for radiant, healthy-looking skin all day long.” Let me tell you, it does just that. I have only been using it for a week or so but honestly my skin feels so clean after using this.

It says to apply it to a damp face, so I leave my make up on and splash some water on my face (which is utterly weird), take a full pump of cleanser and then apply it to my face. Now, it doesn’t keep foaming which was a slight disappointment but is dissolves all my makeup including eye makeup. I rinse it off and my skin feels so clean AND tight. I would recommend moisturising after, my skin feels a bit too tight. Another downer is that I dislike the smell of it, but for the result I'm not fussed!

My skin has been looking a lot better but I have also been drinking a lot more water to keep my skin hydrated. I forget how much of a difference drinking water makes, which is silly I suppose because we are told of the benefits so often!

This range has different products for different skin types, which is nice to see. Have any of you tried anything from this new range? What is your favourite ever cleanser? =) x

Amour amour amour!

I am so excited to share with you my recent purchase! I finally own a NARS blush! Cannot believe it has taken me this long to purchase one of their blushes, especially considering all the love that is out there for them. I know that people love NARS orgasm but, I’m sorry, I don’t get it, maybe because I don’t like a lot of shimmer in my blushes.

But Ooo…Ahhh…that packaging, it just makes me melt. I know that is a silly thing to say but it makes a difference, at least to me! It makes me feel as though it was money well spent.

I didn’t want to share this post until I had actually tried it on my face. Now, I own a NARS Multiple and that’s it when it comes to this much loved brand. There are many things on my wish list from this company but right now I can’t justify getting them.

So these are my thoughts on it; the colour I bought was in ‘Amour’, not a blush I have heard a lot about. It’s a dusky pink colour, it’s very (I mean very) pigmented and it cost me £21.00.

A warning I would give to those who have never used a NARS blush before is; tap off the excess and only lightly touch your brush into the pan! I underestimated the pigmentation; when I first applied it I had to blend it out with my foundation brush because I looked like a clown. Lol! But I can understand why people love NARS blushes so much. I think this is a blush that I am going to wear through the sunny days of Spring and Summer! =)

I am now eyeing up Sin, but we shall see. What NARS blushes would you recommend? Which is your favourite? =) x

Metal Jewels!

Howdy y’all! Hope you’re all well! =)

So I met up with a friend recently to catch up, you know, coffee and good chat and obviously shopping! Now I don’t know about you, but I absolutely hate window shopping! I don’t understand why you would torture yourself with looking at nice things when you can’t have them.

Saying that, I was in a state where I really didn’t want to spend my money. And yet, there we were looking around at all the new spring clothing. To be honest, I was lucky; there was nothing that caught my eye. I was just enjoying my mates company and having a stroll through London on a lovely day!

However, as we walked into H&M and we passed the lovely display with all their jewellery how could I not be tempted by a few items? Well, two to be exact.

I got this lovely silver bracelet (£3.99). The chains are quite stiff so it holds well on your wrist

And I got this gold earring (£3.99). It has a cuff which you place at the top of your ear and a plain stud. I love this purchase! I’m definitely going to wear this with all my hair pulled to one side.

What jewellery has caught your eye recently? =) x

The High-light of my Face!

Ooo how those £5 off vouchers come in handy when you have been craving to buy something from No.7! (To be fair, that’s the only time I buy No.7 products.)

Firstly, let me say that this product is apart of the spring collection and I don’t know when it is going to stop being in stores. I have one of the cream blushes already, which absolutely gorgeous! All the limited edition collections that are released by No.7 are created by the amazing Lisa Eldridge and I have to say most of their stand out products are from these collections.

Now, at first look it looks like any other highlighter, you know, nothing special. I have the No.7 skin illuminator (which is a fluid) and I hate getting product out of it, even though it’s lovely, so I didn’t have high regards for this highlighter. I mean, did I really need it in my life? Really? The answer I think is obvious…YES!

I placed my finger into the tester to see what it was like, it was sooo velvety, I don’t think I have felt a makeup product that soft before. Well, maybe that’s my naivety but the instant I touched it…I wanted it!

On the left the highligher blended out.

The price wasn’t great though, £13, it’s not drastically expensive but this wasn’t something which I needed, so I waited for the £5 off No.7 vouchers. I had some things to buy and in return I got my voucher. (I think they are stopping the vouchers mid March.)

This product is described as; “peach undertones that add warmth while the perfectly-partnered pink shimmer gives a youthful glow.” And it really does. The shimmer is so finely milled that it is only really noticeable in harsh lighting; so if you were going to dinner I wouldn’t really wear it. But if you’re going out on a night out and its going to be dark or you were to wear it during the day it would be perfect. If used sparingly (which is the way it should be used) it gives a nice sheen-y glow, not making it obvious that you have any highlighter on your skin. I just use in on the tops of my cheeks and under my brow.

Have you seen this highlighter? Have you seen any of the spring collection? Are you looking forward to the next collection? =) x

FOTD!

So I’ve never done one of these posts before (face of the day), so here goes. I hope y’all like it! I was just out running some errands and done this quick makeup look. (Please click on the images for better quality.)

It’s a neutral eyes, nude-ish lip and rosy cheeks look, nothing special but I thought I would share anyway. Sorry about the hair, slick back isn’t my greatest look but when I can’t be bothered and don’t care then this is the result.

Products used:

MAC Studio Fix Fluid Foundation in NC42
MAC Studio Finish Concealer in NC42
Bourjois Bronzing Powder in 52 (used this to contour a tad…this product smell so damn good!!)
NYX powder blush in Mocha
MUA Palette in Heaven & Earth
L’oreal Extra Volume Mascara in Black
17 Mirror Shine Lip Stick in Belle

This lip stick is lovely. It is sooo moisturising, the colour pay off is relatively sheer for a ‘lip stick’ but you can definitely build it up to make it more pigmented.

I bought this on my trip to America but they now have an online store for the UK, very pigmented blush.

Now this little gem, I have to admit, I don’t use it as often as I should but for the price and the pay off it was worth my money. I used two colours which are on the bottom row, second and fifth colours in from the left.

See ya later Aligators =) x

Book Corner!

Hello my shining stars! A non-beauty related post today, I thought I would share a recent book I enjoyed.

A friend and I were in Waterstones having a look browse around because we both wanted a new book to read (and we just generally love looking at books hours on end). We came across ‘Sanctus’ by Simon Tyone. It was a completely random choice, no thought, just impulse; we read the blurb and it had us sold. We decided that we would both read it and then discuss it at the end. We both loved it and cannot wait for the second one.

It was a brilliant read. A lot of characters to get to know, but it give’s you an insight to each characters reasoning and purpose throughout the story. It’s based on a fictional city; I would say it’s a bit like the Da Vinci code in that it talks about the church and conspiracies, but completely fake. Although it does make you think. It’s an easy read and I would definitely recommend it if you’re into a thrillers.

The second book is coming out on the 12th April, I am definitely going to purchasing it to see what happens next.

What recent books have you read? What would you recommend to read? =) x

Polish Post! #2

Howdy Doody Tutti Fruities! (don’t ask me why…I thought it sounded cool) Anyway, just thought I would share my change in nail polish.

I’m wearing Piccadilly Circus by Nails Inc. I got this polish with a Glamour magazine (always like a freebie!), it’s usually £11 for 10ml, but I got it for £2.

I love the colour, it’s a nice simple raspberry, can’t really go wrong. I find that this is one of my most reached for polishes; the finish is glossy and it lasts. =) x
